Balance?

If compact flourescent bulbs contain mercury (a small amount, but still…), are they really better than regular incandescents? Does the energy savings balance the heavy metal use?

Things I Learned in the Garden this Weekend

    1. Basil roots very easily.
    2. 20 minutes is really 2.5 hours.
    3. Daylilies are immortal, which is good since I apparently tried to kill some.
    4. Gypsy Moth caterpillars and Tent caterpillars are very similar but arrive in the garden at different times.
    I’m pretty sure now that they were Tent Catties. Thank goodness!
    5. I’d rather be rooting around in the garden than almost anywhere else.

Garden Therapy

Some days I feel like I just can’t deal with the mainstream. Today was one of those days. Everything was making me crazy. The people at work, people on Metro, stupid drivers… It just gets to be a little much.

Thank goodness for a patient husband an a garden that needs to be weeded. It’s amazing what a couple of hugs and some weed-pulling can do.
