Where Blizzards Are Not from Dairy Queen

My friends in Arizona are coming to the close of the pleasant gardening season and heading toward the time of year that I think of as “Extreme Gardening”. Here in the DC area, we’re experiencing the first major snowstorm of the year. A friend of mine took the following pictures while she waited for the bus this morning:

Waiting for the Bus Snowy Day Looks Just Like Mine

I miss the days of year-round gardening but I’m also I’m anticipating the start of a new season here.

  • Hi Eva,

I LOVE the snow pictures. I am visiting via the link you made at the SW Garden forum. Thank you for putting that book on offer!

Sending you warm thoughts (It is supposed to be 92 today). Although, that snow looks nice too. I hope you are able to enjoy it in a nice cozy chair with lovely warm drinks.

    All the best to you,

    Ben

  • The pictures are beautiful, but you can keep the snow. Because no matter how hot it gets here in AZ, I never have to scrape the sun off my windshield!

I would love to have the Desert Gardening book. Small world I am originally from NJ where the tomatoes and sugar queen corn are the best in the world and during the summer you got a small rain shower every day. Gardening in AZ is so much different and although I have been here almost 40 years I still have trouble getting alot of things to grow.

I will gladly pay for the postage if I am the choosen one. Thanks for the offer. Kathi
