That’s My Answer asks: Are there any vegetables that you just can’t eat?
Brussels sprouts. I *really* want to like them. Really I do. Everyone says: “you’ll like them the way I cook them” or “they taste like cabbage.” No, I really do NOT like them no matter how they’re cooked, and they do NOT taste like cabbage. I like cabbage. Heck, I even like spinach. I do not like Brussels sprouts.
The only redeeming part of Brussels sprouts, for me? The cool stalks. The weird spikey things are where the leaves were cut off. Supposedly you can eat the leaves like spinach. Spinach that tastes like Brussels sprouts. Feh.
I think Karen and Tina were right when they suggested that I found leaves from a Sycamore tree. The pup and I went on a scouting mission this afternoon, and found some more evidence in the natural area between the two subdivisions.

I think we have a winner!

It’s been a crazy day with tomatoes still ripening on the vine in November, tornado warnings, high winds, a cat on nip, and a chicken-eating pup. Hubs finally explained why it sounded like someone is mowing the lawn in the dark – there is a police helicopter circling overhead. Apparently, someone did something bad in the neighborhood to the southeast of us. I’m not worried though, ’cause Hubs trained all of the police in the helicopter so they are police AND paramedics.
Needless to say, bed seems good.
I’m hopeful for a better day and a more substantial post tomorrow, possibly even a Green Thumb Sunday post. Stay tuned.

Fall is my favorite time of year, but I’m beginning to get a little bit depressed that it is no longer time for full-on gardening. Thank goodness this link showed up in my email box this afternoon. Now I can jazz up my computer’s desktop with some snazzy photos.
I’m currently sporting a garden of succulents. How about you?

It’s rainy and cold, and rather dreary. But…

I’ve still got my pictures!

To those who have served.
To those who waited,
To those who came home.
To those who survived,
To those who are surviving.
To those who were lost,
To those who were found.
We remember.

A high school mate of mine posted this on Facebook. A couple of the pictures made me teary.
I really liked this one: “The thing I HATE about politics is how it tricks us into thinking there are only two kinds of people in the world. People are too complex to be described by a color.” (From page 3)
Each of these hoya blooms is smaller than my thumbnail.
