Flor de Berenjena

What you have to understand about this picture, is that I only took it to see if I could actually take it. My eggplant has the most beautiful furry stems and leaves, and the flowers are a lovely shade of lavender. But they’re all pointing down, and the flowers are only a few inches from the ground! I shudder to think what it is going to be like, trying to keep the fruits from rotting. :(

Too bright, to be sure, but I took the picture with the camera turned over, underneath the picture, without being able to look at the potential image and no idea if it was actually in focus. Kinda neat. All of that said, I kind of like the other-worldly quality of this shot.

Rig up a little hammock for the veggies with a piece of cheesecloth. (how hard can it be?) That’ll keep it off of the ground with the air circulating.

they look lovely. i love eggplant and am hoping that in our next home (we’re hunting now) we can have more in our garden than just tomatoes and peppers. eggplant would be excellent. and thanks much for the ollas tip and the urban homestead site–they have a yard size similar to many of the places we’re looking at, so it’s very inspiring to imagine what we might accomplish!

hope all is well with you and your mister!

Your photo is beautiful! You did a great job of capturing those wonderful, muted colors. Welcome to Blotanical, by the way. :) I look forward to reading more of your posts.
