Genealogy
All this marriage stuff and inheriting a whole new family got me interested in documenting my family, so lately I’ve been spending some time on Ancestry.com and some other sites, tracking down my family tree. I’ve found some really interesting information on some parts of my family, including a immigrant family member who joined the Union Army in the Civil War.
My family isn’t famous or anything, but it’s been incredible to see all the generations of people who traveled so many miles to make a new life for themselves. The harder part is finding the branches of the tree that didn’t come to the New World on their own terms. That is proving to be the more complicated. I’m hoping that I can at least get some oral history from my family about that - even if I can’t find any actual records of anything.
It’s been really fascinating to begin this journey. I can’t wait to see what I find next!
