Another Adoption
Our household keeps multiplying…
I just adopted this. Thanks to an enabler good friend of mine, I drove out to Louisa, Virginia, yesterday, to pick up my new beauty.
Oh Happy Day!
Anything worth doing is worth doing well.

Oh Happy Day!
Had a great Turkey day, and then Turkey day redux this evening, so I could have some of the side dishes that I couldn’t eat last night because of potential “contaminants”. Right now I’m sitting on the couch, feeling kind of overstuffed, and watching my husband be goofy with the dog. My cat is snuggling with me on the couch, and I’m feeling really thankful for all of the love in my house. The Universe is good.
The cranberries are all tucked away in the fridge, ready for travel. The wine and beer are chilled, and we’re ready for the festivities to begin!
Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
A while back, I started the ABC-Along. I stopped at “H”, because… well… I don’t know, I guess I just got busy. So, I’m starting it back up again with the next letter: I…
Ipomoea
Almost a year to the day. Three froggings, two patterns, one time-out. Done!
After knitting two socks, I think I have enough of the same yarn to do another pair. Not sure what I’m going to do with the leftovers. I’ll probably make another pair of socks using a different pattern. For now, however, the yarn will go back in the stash. I just don’t think I want to use this yarn again for a while.
Like Ravelry, but for plants! The blog makes it sound like it’s supposed to be live already, but I haven’t gotten my confirmation email yet, and the website says that I’ll be getting my beta invite “soon”. I’m kind of confused… but eagerly waiting for more info.
Today’s Juice:
1 Fuji apple
1 Bosc pear
1 hunk of jicama
1 carrot
squeeze of lemon
Verdict: Meh. 2.5 apples.
Mr. TE and I went to see one of my favorite musicians last night - Willy Porter. At first I was bummed, because he wasn’t the only act, but as it turned out, the opening act, Tony Furtado, was excellent as well.
Both are guitarists and I guess they are categorized as “folk” guitarists, but these guys are nothing like Pete Seeger. Not that Pete Seeger is bad, in fact I like Seeger a lot, but this ain’t yo mama’s folk music. It’s more like “Alternative” music, but it’s kind of something else. I’m not sure how to describe them.
The one thing I didn’t like about Willy’s performance, was that he was performing with a drummer. I really like Willy as a solo act, and he really doesn’t need any accompaniment. His music is so rich and wonderful, that accompaniment is like icing on the icing on the cake. The drummer was really interesting because he was using everyday, non-drum items as percussion instruments, but I felt that it was distracting me from why I was there. That said, I really enjoyed the show, and as always Willy plays the music that speaks what my heart is trying to say.
If you have the chance, check both of these guys out. I don’t think you will be disappointed.
Well, the first day went well, but it was mostly HR stuff. Sign a bunch of forms, figure out your new insurance (mind you it’s going to change in a month anyway). I find first days exciting but so incredibly frustrating. It’s a new beginning, which is great, but it means having to start from scratch again, meeting new people and trying to remember names and faces, and where the printer is. (Most people worry about where the bathrooms are, but I usually have more trouble finding the printer.)
But, my boss is cool (though not around much) and I like my office mate, which are both good things. Everyone seems really nice, and I think it will be a really interesting place to work. (Sorry for being vague about *who* I’m working for, but it’s probably best that I don’t give specifics here.)
This week also marks the beginning of our search for a new car - wish us luck!
Can some one please tell me what time vortex I am in? I feel like I got maybe half a day of weekend, in three days.
Tomorrow is a big day for me… my new job starts at 8 AM. Wish me luck!
Just a totally crazy day. We’re working on getting our house in order (literally and figuratively), which entails several hours and several hundred dollars at Bed Bath and Beyond. We also had brunch with a good friend of ours, which was really nice. But now, it’s just this side of midnight, and I’m pooped. What a crazy day.
Today’s juice:
3 Granny Smith apples
2 Carrots
1 chunk of ginger
squeeze of lemon
Less sweet than yesterday’s. Lighter as well. Passed the Mr. TE test. 4 Stars… Or should I say, 4 Apples?
