The centerpieces have to be low to the table. I don’t want people trying to talk to people over the flowers. :) They also have to be something relevant to our style. We’re not big into foofy, poofy stuff, so it needs to be somewhat simple. They also have to be created from plants that I can get all year

I found three perfect baskets at Tuesday Morning, and stopped by Home De(s)pot for some of their small potted houseplants. I’ll be going back for some dropcloth that I can cut up and glue to the inside, so that the plants can be watered inside the basket, and not destroy the basket (or whatever they are sitting on).

I still need to figure out how I am going to include color in the centerpieces, which may be flowers, ribbon, fabric, or maybe fruit (suggestions welcome!)?

    The one above looks great.

You could weave some ribbon through the basekts and also maybe put a small “bow” in the middle of the plants in the same color using a “pick” or piece of wire that can be removed after the reception.

You could tie ribbon knots onto the handles. Pick out a few different colors of coordinating ribbons, different textures and stuff and tie about 6 inches pieces all around it. Very cute.

    Beads?

    Buttons?

    Stones, pebbles, chunks of crystal?

NOT those round mass-produced blobs to anchor flowers in a vase, though.
