You have to ask the guy in front of you if you can switch places with him because you can’t reach the overhead bar on the new Metro rail cars. I’m serious.
I felt like a total dork, but I didn’t want to fall (self-preservation on the subway Metro is Job 1, you know), and the new cars only have poles on the edges of the forward-facing seats. I’d heard the new cars were bad for people shorter than the average man, but I hadn’t experienced it yet. It’s a really poor design, if you ask me.
He was very kind, and immediately found an overhead bar to hang on to. The other guy next to me chuckled a bit and agreed that the bars are a bit awkward. Never let it be said that people in the Big City aren’t nice. Thanks, guy, whoever you are!

Or more appropriately, the weather is confused! I was bitching and moaning about how cold it was less than two weeks ago… guess what the weather was like today? It was over 60 degrees!
Let me check the calendar… yep, December 18th. Seven days until Christmas. I’m so confused!
P.S. When I get the life-work balance actually balanced, expect to hear more from me. Until then, things will probably be a little bit sparse around here. Thanks for your patience.

This is the first winter that I’ve lived on the East Coast in 10 years, and let me tell you, IT’S COLD OUTSIDE! I missed it though, the crisp air, the bare trees, the runny nose, the foggy glasses. Even though I prefer warm weather, living in Arizona makes me really appreciate the different seasons of the eastern climes, and the downright COLD weather we’re experiencing now.
My point? It’s December 8th, and it snowed last night! Technically, it’s not actually winter until the Solstice on December 22nd. Toto, we’re not in Arizona any more!
