Legislating Us Back to the 1950s
Aren’t we supposed to be moving forward? Isn’t society supposed to become more open and tolerant over the years? Aren’t we supposed to have broken through the glass ceiling, instead of crashing through the concrete floor.
South Dakota has passed legislation that makes abortion illegal except in cases where the mother might be at a great health risk. I won’t get into the fact that they are only considering physical health and not mental health. As far as I know, it still needs the governor’s approval, but he has apparently made statements that he plans to approve the legislation.
Kanab, Utah has passed Resolution 1-1-06R, which codifies the definition of “family”. And to make it worse, they call it “natural family”.
An Italian court has decided that a man who raped his stepdaughter should get a lighter sentence because she wasn’t a virgin. Even Mussolini’s grand-daughter thinks it’s outrageous.
So what’s next? Are we going to start Segregation again?

Frankly, I think things have been getting worse in the last 5. Conservative groups seem to think they control everything about me who I sleep with, marry, my freaking ovaries and all my decisions.
I just read today about a representative here in Arizona who wants to prohibit the donation of eggs. They are mine, why don’t I get to choose? Notice he isn’t so picky about sperm. Soon all us womenfolk will be back in our dresses down to our knees, aprons and having 12 kids.
What’s next? Only white people can marry white people? Only Hispanics can marry other Hispanics?

Ever wonder why it is MEN making these stupid decisions about ovaries, eggs & children? For the most part, this legislation effects the lives of women as they are the ones that raise the children.
This whole family thing too………Just because a man & a woman are married doesn’t make them a family! There are all kinds of families and you just have to do the best with what you have two Dads, two Moms, only a Mom, only a Dad…whatever.
Ok, ok…gonna get off my soapbox. Thanks for the post.

Isnt it disgusting? Some many of the things that made this country great are being taken from us, one by one, and far too many sheeple are sitting back and watching it happen. And while I write letters and make phone calls and try to get people to have articulate conversations so they are aware, it doesn;t feel like enough.
Oh and while you are being riled up, make sure you don’t decide to pay down your debt too much, or speak out against Bush.
