Landfill
Microsoft has designed a single use DVD that will only play the recorded material once and then you throw it away. (Article here) I guess the theory is that it’s like a rental but you don’t have to return it.
Can you imagine what our landfills are going to look like if this takes hold? I like to think that this is an idea that is going to fail miserably, but I have my doubts.

It’s wasteful and ridiculous. As if our lives are filled with suffering because of a return trip to blockbuster.

What a stupid idea, beside the enviromental factor. What if I want to watch the movie three times? What if I have a three years old who wants to watch it 10 times before mommy is allowed to return it?

I’m pretty sure it will flop, but it is a concern. Makes me think of the AOL commercial from a few years back, where the subjects of the commercial used all the unsolicited cds they had received from AOL to make a piece of collage-art. That’s 1 way to recycle. AOL’s been filling up dumps for years…
