Las Vegas, Baby!
Where to start?
I think I mentioned that Vegas was fun. It was. Lots. I always like new experiences, and boy, this was definitely an experience.
K, E, and I met up at McCarren Airport on Day 1 (well, Night 1 if you want to be technical about it). We got to the condo late - about 10:30/11:00, but never fear, Denny’s is here! Denny’s Restaurant was right next to the condo, and we were able to have some much needed food. When we got to Denny’s, the hostess/server asked if we wanted smoking or non-. Non-smoking please. Well, we couldn’t sit in non-smoking because the carpet was being redone. Uh, so why did you ask? I know, I know, I should cut her some slack since it was probably just force of habit that she asked. But, when she told us that we couldn’t sit there - with ATTITUDE - it kind of made me wonder.
I don’t remember much after dinner/breakfast, since I was in a egg/pancake/bacon/sausage coma and I was really tired. We figured out sleeping arrangements and went to bed.
Day two was filled with setting up house for the next few days and some serious sunbathing. We walked the Strip and got to begin with the people watching. I also got started on The Time Traveller’s Wife, which turned out to be a great book. We did a wee bit o’ gambling (it turns out that video poker is actually pretty fun, thanks K!) and more people watching.
Day three… more sunbathing and another trip to the store. It’s funny how the little things are extremely important. P showed up in the afternoon, and after a bit of resting and relaxing, we headed out to Red Rock Canyon. Check out the pictures. It was amazing! (Yes, plant porn is a reqirement.) More people watching, eating, and gambling was done that evening. The cream puffs at the Orleans buffet (French Market Restaurant) were fantastic! There’s nothing like a good cream puff.
Day four was short, but there was enough time for a good bit of hot-tubbing/reading/and general lazing about. I’m obviously a desert rat, because in 75-80 degree weather, I can drink hot tea, sit in the hot tub, and lay by the pool all at once. I finished The Time Traveller’s Wife - a great read! A quick lunch, and a trip to the airport. Hugs to all, and Zoom! Off to the gate. A quick hour trip back to the Valley of the Sun, and real life starts again.
