Channel 12 News
I seriously have to question the newscast on Channel 12 at 10. I usually watch the news after my television shows are over. I normally just watch the newscast on whichever channel I happen to already be watching.
Last week I was watching something, and I’m pretty sure that it was Kevin Kennedy on Channel 12. He was doing a story on a 40-year old Valley housewife who decided with her husband that she was going to pose for Playboy. Reporter Kennedy did the story in all seriousness, and basically was saying that it was so great and wonderful that this woman was doing the Playboy shoot. I got the feeling that the news report was essentially saying that more women should do this. WTF?! Is that really news? Is this news? Is it even a human interest story?
Then they had this woman cleaning her glass table outside her house in tight clothes and a little apron. Several of the shots were of her backside and her very dilligent attempts at making the glass sparkle. The point of the shots however, appeared to be more about her butt than her efforts to clean the table.
And then, tonight, the anchor on Channel 12 discussed some mafia-related killings, and how people were found in the desert “wacked”. Last time I checked, the term “wacked” was not part of normal speech, particularly in what is supposed to be a very serious news article. Weird.
I know, I know, “get a life.” I just thought it was so strange. I guess I’ll be watching Channel 5 from now on.

Yeah, I’ve seriously given up on network news.
15 blurbs about how tattoes may kill you and then the actual 1 minute piece is all about how some students “think” the inks may possibly maybe have heavy metals in them. But hey, it was a great excuse to show all those freaks with full sleeve tats and some blood from tats in process.
I want to say the housewife playmate piece was on ABC, right after Desperate Housewives, but then again, I’m going off a blurb because I didn’t watch the broadcast.
And yes, Extreme Makeover Home Edition in the valley is exciting, but it’s NOT 10 minutes worth of news out of a 1/2 hour show.
So, in short, I agree with you completely.
