I hope this guy loses his job. Imagine if a pharmacist lied and told you that your heart medication was “out of stock” and you had to wait 72 hours to get it?
Before you flame me, I realize that the two medications are vastly different, but the idea that a pharmacist can make decisions like this? Not good. Someone should report him.
ETA: I sent a complaint to the Arizona Pharmacy Board. We’ll see what comes of it.

So, the other weekend I decided that I didn’t need to go to the gym anymore. I was kind of being facetious, but now I’m convinced. Between getting mega-muscles in my legs from walking three times a week and getting my cardio from weed wacking, who needs the gym?
Seriously, I didn’t think weed whacking could be good for my cardiovascular system, but using my method, it is. Several weeks of rain and no time to even look at the back yard, builds BIG weeds. Seriously. There were one or two that were as tall as the at least 6′ tall fence. Without a real weed whacker, it’s just me, the mower and the trusty shears for the really tough (at least an inch in diameter) weeds. Whoo boy, did my heart get going after an hour of that.
I found plants that I didn’t even remember that I had planted.
More tomorrow. Oh joy.

Detailed fiber porn:

I’ve just started the decreases. I’m very excited to be done with this. It doesn’t look like I will be getting it done by graduation though. Well, I suppose it couldhappen. I need to get the bear done, though, and I’m working on the Cocktail Monkey Bag. Must stop working on SO many projects at once!
Soleil is NOT making me happy. I finished the lace, but now the straight rows are giving me grief. I put it away for a while. I have other things to do. Grrr.

“Public Service Recognition Week, celebrated the first Monday through Sunday in May since 1985, is a time set aside each year to honor the men and women who serve America as federal, state and local government employees. Throughout the nation and around the world, public employees use the week to educate citizens about the many ways in which government serves the people and how government services make life better for all of us.” (Public Employees’ Roundtable)
Who knew?
I found out because we got this at work today. And since I read everything on the cereal box, I discovered that there is such a thing as Public Service Recognition Week.
So now you know. Make sure to give your favorite public employee a hug.

According to several news sources, European libraries are setting up their own digitization projects. German broadcasting service Deutsche Welle says:
“In a stand against a deal struck by five of the world’s top libraries and Google to digitize millions of books, 19 European libraries have agreed to back a similar European project to safeguard literature.
Nineteen European national libraries have joined forces against a planned communications revolution by Internet search giant Google to create a global virtual library, organizers said Wednesday. The 19 libraries are backing instead a multi-million euro counter-offensive by European nations to put European literature online.” (Read More)
I guess it’s a good idea, since I found it very convenient to have access to electronic versions of journals for school. But I’m kind of old school too, I like actually touching the book.

You know how when women work together or spend large quantities of time together their cycles tend to become syncronous? Ummm… is it possible that this can happen virtually as well? It seems like on all of the blogs I’ve been reading lately, everyone is clutching their pint of Ben and Jerry’s (for me it’s Pringles and Coke this month, but whatever). This is very bizarre.

This greeted me in the backyard this evening. It is the first time this plant has bloomed. I have one other D. vegeta planted (that is bouncing back after a long tenure in it’s original nursery pot) in front, and a D. bicolor that will hopefully bloom soon.
You have to love spring! (Even though it’s already in the 80s here. Grr.)
According to Desert Tropicals: “The 3-inch wide (7 cm) flowers are short lived, but are numerous. They come in group at approximately 2 week intervals in spring and summer. Don’t cut off the long flower stems, since they will grow more flowers.”

Okay, I give up.
I was just watching a news story that I stayed on Channel 3 to watch. ASU East is ripping off students who made the mistake of signing up a high priced meal plan. “3 On Your Side” did a very nice piece on the student, some other students , the problem, and the fact that ASU East is basically going to get to keep the students’ money (GRRRR!). (That’s another rant entirely). Of course, the anchors had to ruin it by saying “how taken” they were with the subject of the article, and how she is a “very good looking kid.” What does her being a good looking person have to do with anything?
I just hope that Channel 5 doesn’t mess it all up. What will I watch then?
