She’s Crafty

Crafty

I am so often in awe of people who craft. I craft too, but I am always highly self-critical and therefore I don’t consider myself a crafter. I often see myself as an interloper into a world of incredibly talented, and amazing people. Who am I to think that I can even hope to achieve the success of all of these people around me? Well, like my mom says, it takes time.

I suppose partly I am a bit extra critical of myself lately, since I seem to not be able make things turn out the way I want to. I’m working on two knitting projects that just aren’t working the way I had hoped. I am completely frustrated with this Stellina shawl I am working on. The pattern is so ridiculously simple, and yet I’ve had to frog the thing twice already. I don’t like the way my boatneck shell is turning out, and I’ll probably frog that.

On the up side, my yard is starting to look nice. I’m getting a handle on the weeds, and I’ve put in some more plants. I’ll have to pull out the wildflowers in a couple of months (hopefully they’ll hang on long enough for my mom to see) because they will start looking crappy, but at least for now they look quite nice.

I so know the feeling. I don’t consider myself crafty at all. I’m way to much of a perfectionist to be crafty. I’m just a girl who likes yarn and needles. But I think youre work is beautiful!

I’m also self-critical. I think it’s why I tend to never actually finish any of the projects I start. I like the process of knitting, but when I discover that it’s not turning out as I had imagined, I sort of move on to something else.

I think it happens to everyone. I can’t count how many “simple” scarves I’ve had to frog. And I love what of your’s I’ve seen so far. That shawl with the beads is beautiful!
