Argh!

Posted in Uncategorized at 9:22 am by trueepicure

I’ve just upgraded to WP 1.5, and now I have to figure out how to redo my page to include my links and buttons. Grrrr… just when I thought that I had everything figured out! Plus, I can’t go back to the old one because that was causing the problems with the new posts and the comments. Frustration!

I went to a mini-Stitch ‘n’ Bitch last night at Coffee Rush. I met Ashley, Melanie, Pam, and Nick, and enjoyed some kick back chatting time. I was able to get some work done on the window pane scarf and the Divine Scarf. All in all, a good evening.

Just Call Me Scarf Girl

Posted in Uncategorized at 8:35 am by trueepicure

Okay, so I had to take a break from the Divine Scarf for a few days. I just get a little bit bored of K2, P2, over and over again. It’s looking pretty good, but I just needed to get away. The Alternating Windowpane scarf I mentioned a couple of posts ago is looking pretty good. (I still have to upload the picture.) I’d say that it is probably as long as the Divine Scarf, but it’s crochet which goes much faster for me.

I didn’t used to have much of a stash - just the makings for another afghan (that I am now rethinking). But, of course, getting back into the knitting/fiber world, I am slowly but steadily increasing the varieties of yarn in my, erm, stash. I now have various yarns in the project room, for no reason other than I really liked the yarn, and I could see making various things with it. Ugh, the madness begins!

The reason for the title of this post is that I found another scarf that I want to make. This time it is in Scarf Style. It is made with a multicolored version of Jo Sharp’s Infusion, which is the same brand of yarn I’m using for the Perfect Pie Shawl from Weekend Knitting. Though, for the Perfect Pie, I’m using “Aran” and not the pink multicolor that the scarf is done in. So, of course this means I have to make another trip up to Jessica Knits… or maybe I should use this opportunity to buy some yarn online?

LOL!

My friend SLD sent me this. I had to have a chuckle:

“February 2nd was both Groundhog Day and also the day of the State of the Union Address. What an ironic juxtaposition — one event involved a meaningless ritual in which we looked to a creature of little intelligence for important prognostications. The other involved a groundhog.”

I have no idea where it came from, but I had to laugh.

Progress on the Scarf

Posted in Uncategorized at 4:13 pm by trueepicure

The Divine Scarf is now 28 inches long. Only 44 more to go.

I got some good work done on it today, only because I am sick and I haven’t gone out of the house all day except to get some Zicam. Zicam is great stuff by the way. Take it when you first get your symptoms of a cold, and it will fix you right up. And I’m sure the echinacea and vitamin C haven’t hurt either. YUCK! I hate being sick, but it does offer some good knitting time.

I also started a window pane scarf with my 1824 Wool from Mission Falls. [image here when I upload it] It’s Amethyst (#23). I’m so sad because they are apparently not going to produce this yarn any more. It’s so soft, and while it smells like wool and just a little like sheepies (if you get your nose up close and breathe deeply), it doesn’t have any weird lanolin feeling or anything.

More Walk News

Posted in Uncategorized at 5:57 pm by trueepicure

I did my first 5K this past weekend. It was the Integrated Health & Fitness 5K, associated with the Expo of the same name (minus the 5K). The distance ends up only being 3.1 miles, but trying to keep your pace up makes the 3.1 miles seem a whole lot different! I was doing 15 minute miles (just under 15 actually), which I thought was pretty good.

My plan is to be up to 5 miles by the middle of February, so I think I’m on track. I still have to figure out what my long term plan is, so stay tuned!

And no, that isn’t some bizarre, fuzzy pink growth at the bottom. That would be the ball of yarn propping up the bottom end - by mistake. :D

I finally figured out the situation with my photos from Gallery. Danged host-provided installation. Another thing to fix another day. However, this means that you can now see the few pictures that I posted from my gallery. Feel free to check out TrueEpicure Clicks.

Plot Flaw!

Posted in Uncategorized at 10:33 pm by trueepicure

Okay, this one is for Jen.

I was watching Medium tonight while I put together my mailing list for the 3-Day Walk. Allison is chasing the would-be serial murder, whom she thinks is driving around with a dead body in his car. She is on the phone with 911 and she tells them that she is following the guy northbound on Miller at Cactus. She then says that he is about to get on the freeway.

Flaw Number 1 : If she is heading Northbound on Miller (at Cactus, the closest freeway is a mile and a half away (to the east). There isn’t going to be any getting on the freeway from there

Flaw Number 2: I believe that Miller dead-ends at Cactus. The scenery we’re seeing isn’t dead-ending. I’ll have to check at work tomorrow to make sure. I don’t really trust Yahoo Maps. I know where their data comes from, and it ain’t me!

Flaw Number 3: Boy, there are a lot of warehouses and stuff in that shot. I don’t remember North Scottsdale looking that dilapidated.

Flaw Number 4: Boy, that really looks a lot like Phoenix… and hey! That’s I-10! I’ll give them credit for including a highway intersection in the shot, but it’s the wrong darned freeway. It’s not even close. I-10 doesn’t connect to the SR-101 in Scottsdale.

I hate plot flaws! Okay, well, that’s not really true. I like them because they are annoying and they are kind of fun to spot. But I hate them because it means that someone didn’t do their job in checking their facts.
