I’ve Been Tagged…
Uh, thanks Nancy. No, I won’t kill you. I promise.
1. What is the total amount of music files on your computer?
Just under 300 MB. When I think about all of the music that I have to transfer to my computer (probably close to 1000 CDs) it makes me a little bit pukey.
2. What was the last CD you bought?
Sweet Honey in the Rock, The Women Gather and In This Land
3. What was the last song you listened to before reading this message?
I wish I could remember. It was something by the Romantics I think. I was listening to the radio, and the stations here have been playing them a lot since they will be in town soon.
4. List 5 songs you often listen to or that mean a lot to you.
Lately, Billy Joel’s Lullaby has been important lately. We’re singing it in my quartet, and it always makes me melancholy. I think about my dad when I sing it/hear it - I miss him a lot, and the song really speaks to me.
Van Morrison’s Brown Eyed Girl. I’m a brown eyed girl… it’s one of the few songs about a brown eyed girl, and therefore I like it. Oh yeah, and it’s a good song too.
Amazing Grace. I sang it at my great aunt and my grandmother’s funerals several years ago. My family asked me to do it, and I’m glad they did. It has given me a new appreciation for the song. I’m not religious, but again, the words speak to me:
Through many dangers, toils and snares
I have already come
‘Tis grace hath brought me safe thus far
And grace will lead me home
Again, I don’t believe in God per se, but I believe that the universe has been looking out for me a lot over the years. Whatever/Whomever has been looking out for me has brought me safe this far, and I hope it will continue to look out for me.
Steve Miller’s Fly Like an Eagle: It’s an excellent song, and following with what appears to be a theme here, it has a great message:
Feed the babies
Who don’t have enough to eat
Shoe the children
With no shoes on their feet
House the people
Livin’ in the street
Oh, oh, there’s a solution
Kurt Elling’s The Best Things Happen While You’re Dancing. Great song, great sentiment!
5. To whom will you pass the stick and why?
Kim. Uh, ’cause she has a blog, and I don’t think she’ll hit me - especially if the Patriots win. TAG!
