I Have Pink Bands

Posted in Uncategorized at 10:29 am by

Want to buy a pink band? I have them.

Pink Wrist Bands

I am selling them as a fundraiser for my 3-Day Walk, and they are $2. “Changing Lives. The 3-Day” is printed on them. I have 25 left, and I will ship up to 5 for $1.

Let me know.

Here is a picture of the Windowpane Scarf, sans fringe:

I received my Brown Sheep Handpaint Originals (Black Cherry) for the Triangular Shawl from Interweave Knits… more on this when I get home from SNB.

New Toy??

I just discovered that I can purchase an iPod for $30 off as a university student. Not much off, but it’s something. Free shipping is included as well, apparently, but I’d better decide quick, ’cause I’m not going to be a student much longer! Am I crazy for even considering this!? An early graduation present? I’m going to have a lot of time to enjoy music in a couple of months…

Take 5

Okay, so this is a great candy bar. KHC and I were discussing it as we devoured the first one either of us had, and we determined that the wrapper was decidedly “old school.” It looked like a design from the 80s… I just saw a commercial, and the commercial is very 80s with a “Sledgehammer”-like theme. Strange.

I don’t remember where I saw the phrase I’ve used for the title to this post, but I love the sentiment. I’m excited to get to know the other 3-Day walkers on our team. I finally met Brooke at Coffee Rush on Monday, I know Nancy from her blog and the occasional email, and I happened to sit next to Heather at Changing Hands at my first Stitch ‘n’ Bitch meeting earlier this month. How fun!

My friend MS is going to put an article in our agency newsletter about me and my/our walk. I hope it inspires people donate, but if not, as long as it gets awareness about BC out there, I’m cool with that.

Tonight will be mostly low key with some knitting, some TV, and some school work. AND, the rest of the broccoli/sundried tomato penne I made last night. YUM!

OH! OH! I Almost Forgot!

The Windowpane scarf is 99.9% done! I just need some more yarn for the fringe. Pics when it isn’t nighttime and I can get a picture in the mirror without light reflecting everywhere. And, I guess I had better clean the mirror too. :)

One Little Bootie…

Posted in Uncategorized at 11:16 pm by

I finished one of the the booties on Saturday night:
a mint colored baby bootie

And then I finished the other on Tuesday night… or was that Monday?
two little booties
(sorry about the crappy pic)

And JRH liked them… maybe he loved them a little bit, but I couldn’t tell. Alexander is probably about to take off walking, but I figured I’d finish them up and present them anyway.

The blue project (crochet) underneath the booties is no longer. It was going to be a jacket for SRD, but the LB Microspun yarn started to annoy me, and I couldn’t imagine going much further with it. To bad though, it is a beautiful color. Maybe I can do a knitting project with it. I did a little test swatch with US8 needles and that didn’t look to bad. Much easier to work with the many, many strands of beautiful periwinkle yarn with the kitting needles rather than the hook.

I hope the blog controversy gets resolved in a manner that makes both parties happy - or at least able to Stitch ‘n’ Bitch without acrimony. It’s making me kind of sad. I want everyone to feel better and I want to be able to fix it, but I can’t. :(

Whoo Hoo!

$535 in my Breast Cancer 3-Day Account! I’m just over 1/5 of the way there. It gives me the warm fuzzies to know that people care and want to help.

Our team of 4 (so far) has raised $1,175. I’m looking forward to doing some team fundraisers after we collect some more raffle prizes. That should be fun.

I LOVE Saturdays!

Posted in Uncategorized at 5:20 pm by

This one started a little bit crappily because I’m STILL sick and I had to do some homework stuff. But, I don’t have to go to work, I got some work done on the booties for Alexander (shhhh… don’t tell his mom and dad!), and I watched some terrebiwo (television in transliterated Japanese). I had to do my regular stop by Mood Swings Salon (this is a TMI moment, so I won’t share any further), but I made it a point to get downtown early so I could stop by Borders (yes, I know, the evil chain, but Changing Hands isn’t there anymore). This is where the day got good. Paper porn ahead, don’t say I didn’t warn you!

Paper Porn

Luckily for me, Borders totally slacks when it comes to their magazine section, so they had three different copies of Interweave Knits. I found a special crochet issue and the current issue. Plus they had the winter issue as well, but I didn’t think I could really justify $21 for 3 magazines. Phew!

I headed off to Mood Swings for a quick touch up, and then headed off to the post office, where I found several wonderful things waiting for me, smooshed up in my little box.

1. The latest issue of InStyle Magazine, which I was just bitching about to myself at Borders. It seems like it takes forever to get the next issue. I’m not sure that saving a couple of bucks is worth it if they can’t get it to me on time.

2. A catalog from Southwestern Native Seeds - old school mailorders, no online location, and they only do orders during very specific times.

3. A bulb catalog - MORE PLANT PORN!! Unfortunately it’s from Breck’s, which I think is the same company as Van Bourgondien Dutch Bulbs. The catalogs look suspiciously alike. Based on what I’ve read on the Garden Watchdog, I won’t shop there. But the pictures are great!

4. Last, but definitely not least, my package from Japan! I traded some vegetable seeds with an American woman in Japan who was having trouble finding seeds other than green onions. I sent her a bunch packets of seeds - some from my garden and some commercial organic seeds. I guess she really liked them, ’cause I got a GREAT package in return. Four stationary sets, a package of green tea and milk candy, stickers, and a Japanese knitting book! LOVE IT!

Plus, I got my belated birthday gift from my mom, and it had a gorgeous blouse and skirt, and a great mesh bag for my fiber projects! Mom came through with fab gifts, yet again.

I love Saturdays. Did I mention that? ;)

The Windowpane Scarf

Posted in Uncategorized at 10:40 am by

I got an email today from Donna, who is excited to see that I am working on her pattern. How cool is it that the creator of the pattern emailed me! :D You just have to love cyberspace.

I thought I should upload a pic so everyone can see it:

Windowpane Scarf

It’s quite a bit larger now than it is in the picture, and it should be done soon, as I am almost to the end of the skein.
